ByJermaine is an independent publication launched in 2024 by Jermaine Jones. If you subscribe today, you'll get access to the website and email newsletters about new content when it's available. Let's Get Involved! Access all areas

ByJermaine offers three tiers of involvement.

  1. You will receive one blog post per week at the free member level.
  2. Next is the loyalist party. Here, you will have full access to everything we have to offer, from interviews to audio and, eventually, our Discord community.
  3. Finally, we have the big kahunas, which are Orbitors! Because of their price point, Orbitors are primarily focused on the annual subscription. As an Orbitor, you will receive everything in the Loyalist party, except we can chat some more one-on-one and have recorded conversations posted on the site. (Effectively, like a Jermaine Orbiter.) Additionally, Orbiters will have a preference for publishing op-eds on the page. (See below).

ByJermaine Opinion Guest Essays (Op-Eds)

Op-eds provide an argument with substantiated evidence. Because ByJermaine (currently) is run by a sole writer, Op-eds offer a space to broaden understanding of current events and topics. Because I value creating a space of informed readers, Op-Eds, by design, should provide an argument that likely contrasts with or challenges something within the current events, topics, or even my own opinion and editorials.

Word Length

Submissions should be limited to 1500 words. Only completed op-eds will be considered; we do not provide guidance on or offer article proposals. Most importantly, we ask that writers disclose any personal or financial interest in the subject.

How are op-eds selected?

Op-eds can take many forms, such as first-person accounts, research reports, and platforms for public officials and political candidates. You do not need to be a specialist in a topic. Nor does your op-ed need to contort to the space that ByJermaine operates within; a well-organized, argued timeliness and freshness of perspective is a gold benchmark for Op-Ed selection.

Are Op-Eds Edited?

The goal of an Op-Ed is not to alter a writer's voice. Full Stop. However, all op-eds are edited for clarity and precision of language, logic of argumentation, and organization. Fact and grammar checking also occur. Before publication, we ask writers to sign off on any changes made.
